James Lawrence

James began his career as an Analyst with GE Capital Real Estate before joining Deloitte & Touché LLP in their Real Estate Audit practice. He worked with Deloitte for 5 years where he earned his (CPA, CA) designation and attained the level of Audit Manager before leaving Deloitte to join CBRE.

James joined CBRE in 2007 as a Controller of Client Accounting, playing the lead finance and accounting role on a 14 MSF integrated portfolio in the financial services industry. Before being promoted in 2009 to Director, Finance on the Infrastructure Ontario (IO) account, James played a significant role in pursuing new business for CBRE in Canada and supported the related transition efforts.

During 2011, James was promoted to Managing Director, Finance and assumed responsibility for the Strategic Sourcing and Portfolio Services teams on the IO Account. Next, in 2013, he was appointed Managing Director, FM and Operations. In January 2016, James gained the position of Senior Alliance Director on the IO Account. In this role, James was responsible for the oversight and success of the assignment by promoting and fostering relationships with IO senior management and the province’s various Ministries while ensuring total contract compliance.

On behalf of IO, CBRE manages approximately 3,500 assets totaling 45 MSF as well as 100,000 acres of land, including office and special purpose properties. CBRE manages IO’s real estate spend of $600M annually as well as $120M in annual capex with approximately 500 employees dedicated to the full-service assignment.
