Real estate plays a critical role in the decarbonisation of the global economy. Given the increasing significance of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) in the business realm, many real estate companies and real estate investment funds are now establishing designated roles or teams, such as Chief Sustainability Officer (CSO) or Head of ESG, to oversee ESG/sustainability initiatives.
These positions are playing a crucial part in guiding real estate companies and investment funds towards achieving carbon neutrality and implementing sustainable practices.
CBRE Asia Pacific Research, in collaboration with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), has conducted a survey of CSOs in Asia Pacific to provide insights into:
- How real estate companies and investment funds are actively addressing the ESG imperative;
- How real estate companies and investment funds perceive the role of the CSO in achieving their aspirations, and how this role is expected to evolve over time; and
- The level of preparedness of companies in achieving carbon neutrality, and any obstacles that are hindering progress.
The full report featuring key survey results will launch in February 2024. Sign up to receive a copy of the report.
